NEW ZEALAND’S LARGEST THOROUGHBRED REHOMING OPERATION
EventStars Ltd was founded by Gina Lee Schick 20 years ago to cater to a gap in the New Zealand sport horse market by supplying riders with reasonably priced youngsters. She recognised the versatility and trainability of Thoroughbreds on and off the track and sought to assist in solving the issue of the high number of racehorses retiring each year without homes.
Approximately 300+ off the track thoroughbreds have been rehomed by the EventStars team each year with the help of their partners - many of which have gone on to compete successfully at the top level in their new careers.

The thoroughbred team was compiled by Gina Schick who is well known for her work with off the track thoroughbreds through her business Event Stars and Beyond the Barriers.
“This was my second time being involved in a Battle of the Breeds competition,” Schick said “I put it up on the Beyond the Barriers Facebook page for people to apply to take part and from there we selected a good range of horses.”
